"The Avengers Project" could be Square Enix's version of "Destiny"

Good day everyone,

Back in January 2017, Square Enix and Marvel announced that they had joined together to form a multi year, multi-game deal. The first title to be announced was The Avengers Project. The game is being developed by both Crystal Dynamics, the creators behind the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot and its sequel and Eidos Montreal who were responsible for games like the Deus Ex franchise including Mankind Divided

In case you missed out announcement trailer, check out the trailer below...

Announcement Trailer:

As you can see in the trailer, it seems that all our favorite heroes have fallen to some unknown threat. Could this threat be something or someone related to ...maybe a giant purple colored alien who is out to destroy half the universe.

For a game that was announced more than an year ago, and so far very few information has been released. Could the game have something to do with the upcoming "Avengers Infinity War".

Another interesting information to note is that based on job listings and other hints, Avengers Project is supposed to be a third person cover based action adventure game featuring shared open world and social interactions. This feels to similar to the veins of "Destiny" and upcoming game "Anthem".

But what makes this game different is the presence of Marvel. Who doesn't dream of playing their favorite superheroes at least once in their lifetime, and what better way than to play them in the form of video game protagonists. Although it will be interesting to see how Square Enix plans to do its lineup of superhero games. It is pretty much common knowledge that not every superhero game was a success, some examples being the most notorious Superman games. But at the same time, there were games that rocked the gaming world such as the Batman Arkham series.

Now coming back to the model the game could follow, I believe either the player starts as a rookie superhero or a S.H.I.E.L.D Agent, who is out on missions, possibly with other players in order to reassemble the fallen heroes. Also I feel that the game could follow Star Wars Battlefront's model of hero game play, in order to give players, a chance to play their favorite superheroes.

Do keep in mind that all the above details are purely speculations form my side. So take them with a LARGE grain of salt.

What do you think? Did you find anything out from the trailer or did you get some leaked information. Feel free to share in the comments section.

Till Next time....

Yours Truly,
