A New Horizon Multiplayer Game Starring New Characters ... on the Horizon!!!

Horizon New Multiplayer Game by Guerilla Games

Although a Horizon multiplayer game seemed almost inescapable, Guerrilla Games made the announcement public on Friday by posting a new job listing. With a forthcoming game including new characters and a distinct art style, the Sony team behind the open world RPG series hopes to bring the post-apocalyptic robot warfare online.

The creators of the Horizon franchise, Guerrilla Games, are hiring for the new project that is based in the Horizon universe. The business is developing a brand-new Horizon game for online play that will feature everything new, from the cast to the game's aesthetic.

The forthcoming Horizon will be a multiplayer game, unlike the existing Horizon games, with a fresh cast of characters delivering a distinct style, allowing players to further explore the Horizon universe.

For this game , the business has available openings across a variety of roles. So, if you're interested, you can submit an application using the URL provided by Guerrilla in the aforementioned tweet.

“Featuring a new cast of characters and a unique stylized look, friends will be able to explore the majestic wilds of Horizon together.”

Character, quest, and combat designers, as well as "stylized" world painters and character animators, are among the positions listed for the new game. It sounds like what you would anticipate from the developers of Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, but with a multiplayer twist, based on the descriptions. To fit the new cooperative gameplay, the references to a new graphic direction may suggest a different set of visual compromises from a firm that has always been at the forefront of visual fidelity.

In addition to Horizon Call of the Mountain for PSVR2 and Burning Shores, the Forbidden West DLC, Guerrilla makes it clear that it is still developing a new Horizon single-player game. The latter two are scheduled to release early in 2023. Additionally, there are job openings for a project that is external, albeit it is unclear what that is.

Since quite some time, there have been rumours of a Horizon multiplayer project, including one that the Guild Wars publisher NCsoft had obtained a licence for a Horizon MMO. The multiplayer push comes at a time when several significant Sony first-party games have made the switch to online, including the upcoming Last Of Us spinoff and the co-op raid upgrade for Ghost of Tsushima.

Sony announced plans to create over a dozen more live-service games by 2025 following its $3.6 billion acquisition of Bungie, whose popular MMO shooter Destiny 2 has emerged as one of the industry's benchmarks.

If the last few years are any indication, only a small number of them will be as successful as Apex Legends, Genshin Impact, and other recent breakout successes. It's understandable why Sony would try given that a growing proportion of all gaming businesses' revenue comes from microtransactions and other forms of subscriptions.
